Great Bench for Small Spaces Sep 23, 2009
By Linus Gibson
"ElderDude"
Trying to find a suitable bench for small spaces can be a real chore. Fortunately, the Best Fitness BFFID10 FID bench is a worthwile solution to that problem. Out of the box, assembly is a 2-step process - secure the incline back to the seat hinge using the included steel rod and alan wrench, and lock the legs in place with the included safety pins (for those intending to leave it in one position, the legs can be secured with bolts, nuts and washers instead, which are also included along with the appropriate tools).
You can choose from 5 incline back positions and 3 locking positions for each leg, allowing you to set it up for a variety of flat, incline, and decline exercises. At first glance, the incline back doesn't appear to lay perfectly flat but once the legs are locked into place, only the seat itself is at a very slight incline. While its perfectly flat, you can hold onto the handles of the incline back during ab crunches and other ab exercises, a nice bonus indeed, not to mention it's upgradeable with the optional accessories Best Fitness makes for this bench.
One of the key highlights of the bench is its size. End to end, the bench measures about 3-1/2' when in the flat position, though this can be a bit of a double-edged sword. It's great that it doesn't take up a lot of room, but this also doesn't make it an ideal bench for tall people. If the length from your pelvic bone to the base of the back of your head is longer than this, you may want to consider a longer bench. The bench is also on the somewhat skinny side, measuring only 9-3/4" at its widest point, so keep that in mind when factoring in your body type.
Another key highlight is its storage-friendliness, allowing you to store the bench under a bed or in the back of a closet, which is a fantastic feature that is lacking from most home workout benches in general. However, there's a bit of a missed opportunity here - neither the legs when completely folded in nor the incline back while in the flat position can lock into place. Instead, there are 2 steel loops on each leg for securing them together with a bungie cable or strap, and the incline back just hangs if stored vertically. For these reasons, the bench is best suited for being stored under a bed.
Overall, the Best Fitness BFFID10 FID bench wins in the versatility department. The cushioning should provide admirable support throughout your workouts, but the cushioning is pretty firm so don't expect it to compare to the likes of your mattress or favorite sofa. It's also a little disappointing that the legs and incline back cannot be locked into place, which can make storing the bench in closets a clunky ordeal and further keeps it from being a 5-star product in my opinion. Still, the solid construction, expandability, and low price tag for this portable bench make it well worth the investment regardless.

worth every penny Apr 26, 2008
By housewifeman This is a small bench and low to the ground. I am 5'10" 170lb and my son is 6'2" 222lb and we both use it easily, so the smallness is an asset for our limited area but the size does not limit any exercises. We use dumbbells a lot and this bench is perfect for those exercises. Easily adjusts in seconds and is sturdily built. We already have a bench that is attached to our weight machine and I thought this new bench would get limited use but its portability/movability and its ease of adjustment have made it our main bench. We also put the back at a high angle and use it for dumbbell preacher curls. Extremely happy we got it!

Great Bench! Feb 10, 2008
By Barrett Withers This is a super bench for the price. It has 4 different height adjustable positions and each leg can be either folded or reclined to a different angle to further incline or decline this bench. Also both legs can be folded to make a great floor bench for floor presses as well or to simply be tucked away until your next workout. This is a great product that came already put together right out of the box. If all of best fitness's products are of this quality then they've got a new full time customer.:)

I tried Oct 14, 2008
By I wanted to like it I'd been looking for a weight bench for a couple of years and after reading everyone's review I bought this. First the promotion of the bill me later doesn't work on this item. Anyway, I agree that it is very sturdy and easy to set up and arrived promptly - 5 stars on all of those items. But I think I will have to return it, if it doesn't cost me too much to do so - I have to pay for the cost to return this ~50 lb item. What I don't care for is that it's narrow and firm. I prefer more padding or a softer feel. I might buy some foam padding or something. It's also narrow; as wide as my thumb to pinky finger when stretched out. Therefore it supports between my shoulder blades and that's it. Maybe that's good for range of motion, but I feel like I'm going to tip over (not because it's not sturdy but because it's narrow). In addition it hits me about mid head level which is uncomfortable. I know it had measurements with it but measuring out dimensions and really sitting on something are two different things. And I can't slide down too far because the seat part of the bench is slightly raised. I've learned that for me a weight bench is like a car, I really have to try it first to make sure it feels right and is what I want. I can't believe how out of sync I am with everyone else that wrote in.

Budget Bench, Great quality and function Sep 02, 2008
By Fuzzy Wuzzy As usual, Amazon's shipping is unrivaled. The bench was delivered in great condition and was very easy to set up. Supplied are clamps and nuts/bolts. You can use the clamps for easy dismantling and storing or nuts/bolts for a permanent fixture. The bench has 4 different positions from flat to incline and i think can be adjusted to multiple other positions if you play around with the legs. overall i'm one of those consumers who researches products for months and reads reviews extensively. if you're one of those customers, then this bench is the one to get. the price is just right--won't hit your wallet and does not take up much floor space
The leather is soft and comfortable, keeps moisture/sweat from seeping in--so you won't have a smelly workbench.
The bench is long enough for tall people as well and is very sturdy--made out of good quality materials. you can also check out bestfitness's website for extra accessories for your bench or w/e
for those of you who need some exercise tips, check out trainwithmeonline.com for free videos, guides, routines, etc I don't work for that site, just stumbled on it and thought i'd share with the community. cheers
