Great Item should be in everyones gym Jun 22, 2011

This is a great dumbbell set and nicely priced. These are CAST IRON weights much better then the other dumbbell set that use a plastic shell with concrete fill for the weights. I picked up this set because of price and it being cast iron weights. The cast iron does not crack or turn into dust like the concrete will over time with normal wear and tear.
This set is 40lb unlike the other review that has never use free weights or forgot to do the math and add that in. The handle and other parts of set has weight to them so that when added gives you the total weight you set.

Best Dumbbells for the price! Oct 12, 2011
By Akline These things are great! I was skeptical to order with only two reviews at the time of my purchase but I decided to. Boy was I glad I did. These are just like any other typical dumbbell set except they have rubber coated knurled handle grips. This makes for the ultimate in grip, these with some gloves and you won't have to ever worry about these babies slipping out of your hands.
Now I don't have a precision scale at my current location so I cannot say much to the QC of "Lion Roat Fitness", however these came with a manual from a company called Yes4All out of Santa Anna, Ca. That being said the threads, handles, and collars seem to be of sufficent quality and there was no excess metal chips and the collars screw on perfectly. Also the supplied collars have rubber inlays which is nice.
The only thing I can grip about with these dumbbells is that the black coating on the plates is a layer of paint, not rubber like the handles and as such is subject to scraping and chipping and the like although I have not experienced any chipping.
Definitely a great buy in my book!

This is NOT a long term investment Mar 15, 2012
By James I placed an order for two 'Lion Roar Fitness' 40 lb (it recently changed to the 60 lb) adjustable dumbbell sets in January 2012. I kept one set at '6 lbs + the bar' and the other set at '26 lbs + the bar' to use at home for some lightweight lifting. They were cheaper at the time and for a total of $91.00 (shipping included) + the stellar reviews, it seemed like a worthwhile deal. After purchasing the sets the seller was prompt in shipping and the packaging was solid.
The rating of 2 stars has been given for the following reason:
A few days in I began to notice that the weights and rotating collars would become loose after a few sets. So I did the logical thing and gave the rotating collars a quick twist to tighten the weights. Worked like a charm. The days wore on and twisting/tightening became a routine. Eventually, one of the collars on the '26 lb + the bar' dumbbell would never feel tight. It would continue to turn even though the weights were taut. I became wary of over-tightening the dumbbell so I began checking the state of the weights rather than the collar before doing another twist/tighten. Unfortunately 2~3 months of one too many twists has compressed the rubber grip on one of the '26 lb + the bar' dumbbells to the point where a 1 inch tear has formed down the middle. Mind you I adjusted the weights once on each dumbbell (the date of receipt) and didn't touch them afterwards. Perhaps it was due to the additional 6 pounds on the dumbbell that resulted in the compression and tearing of the grip. Perhaps there was a quality control issue with that particular handle/grip. Either way, I am incredibly disappointed. This product was great in the beginning and for the total purchasing price of $91.00 (shipping included) it had potential to be a highly recommended cost-effective product. I'll be using super glue to seal the tear and I can only hope this will remedy this issue.
If you're looking for a short term option I wouldn't advise you against purchasing this product. Just be wary of the consequences and adjust accordingly.
If you're looking for a long term option I suggest you keep looking.

Works just as I had hoped, extremely adjustable to my workout and the I love how the grip isn't metal and has some type of material there.
