My Favorite Pedometer May 07, 2010
By Rebecca Johnson
"The Rebecca Review"
When I recently lost my first Oregon pedometer I really missed knowing how many steps I was walking. Of course as soon as I ordered this new one, the other mysteriously appeared outside our apartment.
This Oregon Calorie Stepper Pedometer doesn't work if you toss it in your pocket, you have to make sure it is attached to your belt or at least at the waistband. It makes a soft clicking sound as you walk but your brain will eventually filter out the noise so you no longer hear it.
So what are the features? Well this Pedometer seems to have them all:
Calorie Measurement Total Distance in miles Steps taken A Backlight Body Weight - (65 - 340 lbs) Motion Sensitivity Switch Reset button Clock Time that has elapsed HR/ + - changes time and helps to input weight for calorie counter Min/ - changes time (You do need a paper clip to set time, etc.)
For example, this is what I recorded today:
Steps: 8,737 Calories burned: 214 Miles: 2.75
The only thing I don't like about this pedometer is that it is fairly difficult to open. You really have to press down pretty hard on the cover release button. I think it has to be that way otherwise the pedometer would open while you were walking.
Don't worry about buying batteries to get this pedometer to work. It comes with two LR43 1.5V batteries that are easy to replace. The batteries should last one year.
I think you will love this pedometer and it will motivate you to try to reach 10,000 steps a day. One day I actually did walk 15,116 steps so it is possible to walk more than the recommended 10,000 steps if you really want to push yourself.

If you want a pedometer that easy to use and that can be adjusted for stride and sensitivity, this is the one. It is far above all that we have tried.

Simple, durable, works as advertised. Mar 01, 2009
By Mario le Mew I like this product because it does exactly what they said it would, it came with batteries and it works without reading pages of instructions. Simple, effective, no frills.

Oregon Scientific Pedometer Sep 08, 2010

Out of all the pedometers on the market -- and believe me, I have tried just about all of them -- this is my most favourite. It works -- which can't be said for a lot of the other models that claim they work [I won't mention companies, but one of the worst is put out by a company that also has a gym named after it].
I am on my third one ONLY because the plastic piece that snaps onto clothes breaks. But my first one lasted for almost 3 years before it broke.

A High Stepper Oct 04, 2010

I decided it was time to put a figure to the steps/miles I was walking in a day - both in and around the house. I didn't want anything too fancy, too bulky or too pricey, and this little Pedometer fits the bill for me. Although I must admit I had to fiddle about a bit to come up with a length of step counter I was comfortable with, but inputting this figure, and my weight, was pretty straightforward: but the directions are clear, and it is also straightforward to change any figures you input, if needed. Finally, would I buy it again and/or recommend it to a friend, the answer is "Yes".
