4Promising machine. Just needs a few tweeks!  Mar 14, 2011
By A. Ashley "tech junkie"
I was very hesitant to purchase this machine. I at first was going to purchase an ab circle but went with the ab glider instead because of the negative complaints stated a/b the circle. The ab glider however, had very little reviews so I decided to be a test dummy and take the plunge.

Delivery:
Our package took an obvious beating during shipping. We were concerned that some parts may have been damaged. Fortunatley only the box suffered damages.

Set up:
Assembling the machine took a/b an hour. It was not strenuous nor did I need extra hands to help.

Durability:
my husband and I have both been using this machine for a week now and everything about it is sturdy.

Ease of use:
I'm 5'7 1/2, my husband is 6'. For me the machine does wonders for my obliques and my arms (per different excercies on dvd). For those that say they do not feel the work out for their abs I'd suggest correcting your posture. If your not positioned correctly you'll feel the burn elsewhere except where you want it. Due to my height, I don't get much workout when I do the core crunches on the machine. Neither does my husband. Why? b/c the semi circle slope does not give us leeway to properly do the excercise. My husband and I both however get a great work out for our obliques and those Lower core stomach muscles that are hardest to target effectively.

Why 4 stars not 5?
This machine would have been great if the manufacturer did some minor adjustments. A knee cup/ or knee pads would have been a nice comfort. Also, the handle bars should have been made adjustable. This machine is great for anyone between 5' to 5'5 otherwise it's simply to "small" for bigger people... too restricting for the range of motion you would require for a GREAT ab workout. Smaller people will get the full benefits of the machine.
My husband and I both wear shorts while working out. Joggers are not advisable. Your pants will have you sliding all over the place. Bare knees provides a better anchor.

Results:
I can ALREADY see a difference in my silhouette, my arms and my lower stomach... the areas I have ALWAYS struggled the most with! I've shaved 2" off my waisteline already! My husband too has seen improvement in his obliques and lower ab muscles.

Final Thoughts:
Weighing the cost vs. expectations, We do not regret the purchase. If the company implement the tweaks I recommend, this will be a great piece of home work out equipment.

2Handlebars much shorter than pictured in ads...Can't get leverage  Jan 10, 2011
By Pat Jensen
I see that the owner of Proform has provided commentary just prior to mine. I hope he can explain whether the company has recently reduced the length of the Ab Glider handlebars? I was banking on this product. Before buying it, I just couldn't see how it could NOT work to tighten my abdomen. I bought the Ab Glider after repeatedly watching the commercials and reading the glowing reviews. When it arrived and I finally got it assembled and working smoothly, I was shocked to find that the handlebars are at least a foot shorter than in the commercials and as pictured on the box. This throws off the total ergonomics of the unit, making it impossible to pull up with the abdomen without leaning completely into the small handlebars--an awkward and tiresome maneuver that stresses the back far, far more than the abdomen. Because the small handlebars force me to lean into them, I am not provided the leverage to pull up at the abdomen, so I feel no stress or soreness in the abdomen at all after trying to 'exercise."

The machine does not allow for adjustment of the handlebars--neither to raise, nor pull them closer to the body. I've seen others on the Web with this same problem so I know I'm not alone. This is particularly frustrating because I know that if the handlebars were as tall as in the commercials and on the box, I could get a terrific workout.

I'm about to have the unit disassembled to return, but would be very happy just to get a set of the same longer handlebars that are featured in the commercials and in the ads. I'll put them on myself. By the way, I'm average height--not particularly tall or short, so I'm not able to understand why the handlebars should be a problem. Has the owner tested this product with a few different heights and body types? Has the owner considered making the handlebars adjustable or providing varying lengths?

I gave it two stars only because I still have lingering thoughts on how good it could have been. To the owner of the company whose message appears just before mine: What do you suggest I do?

4Ab Glider  Jan 24, 2011
By Nozama "Emirp"
Well i got this the other day so i thought i would add my 2 cents.
Set up was not too bad, but would have been better if one of the Allen head bolts was not defective. Sounds bad but it was just a minor hassle. The device seems fairly rugged & sound. I am about 6'1 186 lbs and it seems like its a little too easy or something. Yet after using it just a little i could feel a burn in places my other equipment was not accessing. And in places i did not expect, like in my triceps. But that was because i was doing it "wrong" by pulling with my arms rather than contracting ab muscle. I think i like the Ab Glider, using this in conjunction with my other equipment will make for more comprehensive & complete workout.
I Feel it is value priced, as other comparable contraptions sell for much more or they dont do as much. This one works you side to side as well as up & down. I think this will help strengthen my back as well as abs & arms ....so yeah....whats not to like ?

Addnote - After posting my review, my attention was drawn to the review below mine... & could not help but notice the parallel in our perspective opinion on the Pro Form. And that the reviewers opinion is apparently negated due to his position of company ownership he enjoys.
Are you kidding me ? You people should be ashamed of yourselves for holding a mans success against him. Apparently If i were to someday "make it big" & produce quality products for public consumption, i am not allowed to speak my mind or be held in public contempt. How absurd. Well it is my opinion that He must be an honorable man composed of substantial character. As from my perspective all he did was tell the truth. I find his review to be spot on . And personally, i am grateful to this guy for making a quality piece of equipment i can afford. And to you Sir, I say THANK YOU, and congrats on your successes in life.
And you know what ? ... the more i use the Ab Glider, the more i like it. I cannot walk past it without jumping on & going at it.
& yes, my core is getting tight. So This product IS a winner !

4Good, but it takes some practice  Feb 14, 2011
By Susan
I've had the Ab Glider for a week and have used it every day. My initial impression was that it just didn't do anything for my abs, and after 2 days, my arms were killing me! Then, because my arms hurt, I started experimenting with my posture, trying to find a position that gave my arms a rest. In doing so, I actually found the proper position that worked my abs. Now, I can really feel it in the right places. I only gave the Ab Glider 4 stars, because it could be so much better with some small design changes. My only real complaint is with the knee pad. It's difficult to keep your knees from sliding outward, forcing you to stop every few minutes to readjust your position. Knee cups and a contoured surface would have solved that problem. I would definitely recommend that you wear shorts rather than pants when using the machine, as the motion causes pants to tug down in front and twist around the legs. At first, I was unhappy with the height of the handlebars (like other reviewers), but now that I've found the proper position, I think they're actually positioned correctly for my 5'6" frame.
Assembly was very easy, and does not require 2 people as the instructions state. I put it together by myself in a little over an hour. The only missing item was the tube of grease that the instructions said should have been in the box. I used Vaseline instead, and it seems to be fine.
If you do buy this machine, just give it time. I was tempted to take it back after the first day, but now I'm glad I stuck it out. I do think it's a good machine, and a good buy for the price, but it is a learning process.

2Proform Disappoints  Feb 21, 2011
By Tamra Tammen
I have always been satisfied with Proform products. I am still using one of their treadmills that is 10 years old and runs like new. The AbGlider was a disappointment right out of the box. The welding looks like a first timer did the job with visible cracks already showing. The Glider came with broken pieces in the plastic wrapping although I couldn't locate their connection initially. In addition, the directions are not very user friendly. It took over 3 hours to put together and it doesn't have that many pieces. After the 3 hour commitment, I found that the computer counter was smashed and not working. It shouldn't break that easily. I will say that after working out the last week, I do "feel the burn" after the full 10 minute workout. It would be nice to be able to adjust the tension. It is easy to use. You will get a better workout if you use the DVD.
