Great for Strengthening Legs! Feb 12, 2011
By Jane Rogers I wear these around the house all day long (I am a 62 year old female)...walking, up and down the stairs, doing leg lifts side to side and back kicks, front kicks. My legs are more toned and finally strong (I had really weak legs). When I go out without the weights on my ankles, I can walk forever! Well worth the price. One hint: if the weight beads become hard and hurt your ankles, just take a small hammer and "pound" the beads lightly to loosen them. Sometimes the beads meld together and harden, but easily soften after "mushing" them. I have had these for months and they still are like new. No wear and tear at all! My daughter used them to train for months before she entered "Tough Mudders". Highly recommend!

Poor quality May 23, 2011
By G. rogers I bought these because they were Reebok. But unfortunately having a big brand name is not a guarantee of quality. The fabric began to rub through after less than one week of use. In addition, the iron filings used for weight seemed to have been magnetized, and would congeal into hard painful mass.

ehhh, they're okay Apr 07, 2011
By Kara M. Taylor I really dislike how the velcro is on these weights. The way the velcro is makes them perpetually slide off your ankle on one part of the weight. I don't understand why they wouldn't have made the velcro extend just a little further. Maybe they aren't designed for people with smaller legs. They are very big and VERY bulky. I bought them to wear under the legs of my pants while at work so I could get toned up while walking back and forth in my busy job. But I can't wear them discreetly under my pants at all, and even if you remove one/some of the weights (a nice enough feature) they are STILL too big to fit under your pants. I'm talking Hulk huge. But they are good quality. I'd also have liked if the weights had some sort of buffer so they weren't rubbing on your ankle bone but I suppose that would make them even bulkier. It's got to be a trade-off for a larger amount of weight, I suppose. The biggest issue IMO is the stupid velcro straps! They won't secure to part of the weight.

It's a weight... What do you expect? Feb 02, 2012
By Hovy Reading the other reviews on here, I was concerned with this purchase for awhile. It seems some people hated it, some people loved, and that was all. I've been using mine every other day for a few weeks now, and unless I experience any breakage problem as in some of the reviews, I think these are fantastic. I mean, they aren't exactly 'comfortable' to wear; but you are strapping 5 pounds of sand to your ankle, which is a flexing joint... of course there will be some pressure/discomfort! That said, the band can be adaquately tightened, and there is decent padding to help minimize any 'pain'. Also, changing weight bags is relatively easy; though I would recommend against unbalancing the weight (removing one or three bags) because it does tend to wobble a bit. Again, not a deal breaker, it's just the nature of the beast.
I've been using this to rehab a torn meniscus injury sustained from playing hockey. Not only is my knee feeling better faster than expected, it looks like I will be able to avoid surgery. Also, I've noticed my skating to be quicker and turns sharper now that I've added these weights to my workout regiment. I can't recommend them enough.

Don't buy, here's why =) May 08, 2012
By Eric Trash simple as that. here's a quick 5 why not to buy them I could list more but why bother.
1. Cheap construction and a poor design they use sand bags and a single strap velcro strap to hold to your ankle and are a perfect circle so they don't conform to the natural shape of your ankle.
2. Single stitching and run of the mill *no pun intended* neoprene combined with the naturally short life span of velcro and I'm afraid they use stiff low quality velcro make for a overall short life span I'd guess 3 months or less for someone using them in their routine 4 times a week or more. *I returned mine after a week or 2 just not worth wearing*
3. Random stupidity mine came with a little strip on one end of velcro ...on the inside of the weight O_O I tried for hours and failed to understand this tiny useless little add on. So I ended up stripping the seams on it since it was chaffing horrible thru my sock.
4. The single strap and massive bulk means they shift ....shifting means they rub and chaff rubbing and chaffing means you wake up in Vegas broke and alone errrr I mean it means losing skin and ruining cloths neither of which are fun.
5. This is just plain insulting from Reebok ok so Reebok is the off brand Nike so don't expect to much but they are still a international company come on man don't just throw something together and start shipping it off with out a care in the world....sept money.
Alright now alternatives TKO would be my first choice and my suggestion for anyone looking for ankle weights over 1.5 pounds each. For those looking for light I'd suggest nike they carry the standard thumb loop model and while I can't say for sure not having owned them they look slimmer and higher quality than most unlike any others I've found they use iron filings for a better weight to space ratio. Back to the TKO the TKO weights come in 10 and 20 pound totals *both wrists* they use metal lozenges one pound each and are adjustable. They use two velcro straps and have jell lining for comfort.
After rant ^_^ I've done a lot of research on this stuff I've whipped my Google like a cheap mule time and time again and these are the best I've come up with. Mir for weight vest for those interested I bought mine from them and love it even tho it really could and should be better in many ways. That said I'm disappointing, very these shouldn't be the best out there I know it's a small group of people interested in these things compared to say hamburgers. But that doesn't mean we should all have to eat MacDonalds and maybe the occasional Goodtimes. I do train seriously and 1.5 pounds a wrist doesn't cut it for me I want comfort I want slim and I want them durable I'm sick of fricken velcro we all know it wears out a bit every time u stick it and once it's dead your item is trash. And cheap plastic parts don't get me started on cheap plastic parts I had to order buckles for my first ever pair of wrist/ankle weights from a online site to fix them after using them 3 times. Bit iffy why I'm even writing this in some random review but this industry sucks and nothing I can found sold for any price is something I want to train with. SOOOO I'm going to make my fricken own expect awesome. The End.
