Exercises Arms More Than Legs May 29, 2011
By Urban Hermit It's easy to put together and works smoothly. The rower itself is decent, but depends on what you plan to use it for. If you are a beginning rower or plan to use it competitively or even to warm up before going out on the water, I would not recommend this product. Rowing is a leg sport and all the high end machines I've used are built with this in mind. This Stamina Air Rower however, had an issue with this concept; the resistance on the band didn't kick in until I was into the last part of my stroke (the arms). The basic pattern of a stroke is legs, back, arms. Your legs are supposed to do the hardest work because they fatigue the least, but because of where the highest amount of resistance kicked in, my arms did the bulk of the work and I tired out way too quick.
If you buy it for general exercise or for therapeutic reasons, it's probably ok. Alternatively, if you are a regular rower and have been in shells this is not a device for you, not even for warming up - you'll be frustrated with it quickly. It might be ok if you have really short arms and really long legs though.
Lastly, the metal support under where the foot braces are was bent upward so when I folded it for storage it was fine, but when I tried to unfold it, I had tons of trouble. I ultimately returned it for a refund because of this and because of the reasons mentioned above.

Stamina Rower Apr 08, 2011
By J. Auer

I used this rowing machine every day for about 3 years and it's still in excellent condition. I'm passing it on to a friend, since I now use other forms of exercise. I lost a lot of weight with this machine, so I highly recommend it. It gives a terrific, total body workout...tones all the muscles, gives good cardio exercise, and offers plenty of resistance. It's easy to use and offers low impact workouts. There's no variety, but rowing itself is an excellent form of exercise, and can be alternated with other types of workouts.

good product for the money Sep 26, 2011
By wayne It was easy to put together, and everything was included. It is quiet and works well. Be sure you notice that the weight restriction is 250 pounds. I'd amend that to 225 pounds to be safe. It isn't gym quality, but neither is the price. Ours gets used ever day for about 1.5 hours.

Good home rower Feb 12, 2011
By Lambert Manansala This unit was very easy to assemble, does not take a rocket scientist. The action is very smooth and the resistance is adequate but will not be adjustable for that I will knock one star off. We'll see how long this unit will last, but for now it's a nice addition to my home gym.

Sturdy Machine, Good Customer Service Jan 08, 2012
By vtx3 Very sturdy machine that can withstand an intense workout. The only complaint was that the base frame started to chip with all the seat friction during my workouts, but Stamina was super quick to send me a replacement seat & base frame. If you have a husky build put some WD-40 on the base frame before a workout, and it will glide super smooth with minimized friction. I highly recommend this equipment, and the reliable manufacturer customer service warranty.
