Basic but effective Jan 18, 2011
By Joan of Arc This weight set consists of a regular length hollow bar (which comes in two pieces and you beat together), and two shorter bars. There are also clips to hold the weights on the end of each bar. There are two 20lb plates, four 10lb plates, and four 5lb plates. The plates fit both the longer bar and the shorter bars. The plates are nothing fancy - plastic, filled with concrete most likely, but weights are weights and they work well for me. The clips hold them fairly well (a little looser than a solid bar and actual solid plates (rather than filled plastic) but still effective.
My only complaint (that I overlooked when ordering) is that there are no 2.5lb weights, so in order to go up or down on weight, you have to go a whole 10lbs up or 10lbs down since the smallest weights are 5lbs and you need one on each side to keep it even.
Overall, though, this weight set works well for me. It is nothing fancy, but it gets the job done.

Good Basic Weight Set Nov 20, 2011
By Benjamin Not overwhelming or spectacular, but for those of us who don't really have a budget to spend big $$$ on resistance training and other exercise equipment, it's good enough to get the job done. You'll find yourself needing to order an additional set of 2.5, 5 and 10 pound discs if you want to actively use all three barbells and have a nuanced workout where you can gradually step up resistance each week or two.
Still, it gets one's foot in the door, as it were...

Functional, but not long enough for a weight bench Mar 05, 2011
By David Ngibuini I got this cheapo barbell set at the same time I got a weight bench the best fitness BFOB10. However, this is not logn enough to fit the width of the barbell supports, you can place one plate on the outer side of the support, but the other one is dangerously on the inner side if you catch my drift. I can't think of a better way to put that, but then again, I am not Roger Ebert. I will now have to get a more 'standard' barbell and use this one for curls and such. Maybe I can use the weight plates on a different barbell assuming they have the same diameter. I assumed that all barbells fit all weight benchs, but I guess I live in a perfect world in my head. Next time, I will know...so buyer beware. On the whole, it's a good product, it comes in a BROWN BOX!! that is all taped up for extra support I suppose. It's kind of awkward to lift and carry around and I think I threw my back trying to lug this around. Maybe if they had a smarter (and more expensive, as it always is) way of packaging this to where you could lift it safely assuming you don't have a buddy..and my poor UPS guy shot me daggers cuz he broke HIS back hauling this thing and a weight bench on the same day lol. All in all, okay product but for the price, great product.

exactly what you would expect Dec 05, 2011
By chasab Heavy weights, shipped. one of the weights is noticibly broken up inside the plastic. Still weighs the same but makes a little sound.
Mostly just superficial issues, It all functions correctly.
